They might say the art of haute couture is on decline but one look at Ralph and Russo’s impeccably detailed creations might change your opinions. Red carpets throughout the world are chock-a-block with their floor sweeping gowns. Though naysayers might opine that it is nothing ‘pathbreaking’ but for a change it is great not to talk about gender bender fashion and the entire ‘fashion revolution’ paraphernalia! Old school intricate embroideries, colour palate which is a visual treat and usage of feathers and florals that can shame the royals, Ralph and Russo’s every creation treads a path between tradition and modernity.
The label recently showcased it’s Fall couture collection in Paris and this time they returned to what they do best, experimentation with floral trend. Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo have mastered the art of playing with volume and get it on point. The collection comprised of grand tulle, chiffon and silk organza gowns belted at the waist, hand painted column dresses with capes embellished with crystals and chirpy shift dresses with cocoon capes.
Some of the pieces that caught our attention were – a tulle gown with pearl embellished bodice and skirt heavily embroidered with appliquéd flowers, an appliquéd midnight blue skirt with a bomber jacket, white cigarette pants paired with a floor length cutout cashmere cape. Though the entire line was replete with couture perfection some of the looks were accompanied with interesting versions of sun, slouch and chupalla hats made in embroidered burgundy and black velvet, just to add a bit of quirk.
Looking at this mesmerising collection we surely know that the coming award season, stars will be lining up to grab some of these pieces. Sonam Kapoor you are one lucky girl!
