Corsets formed an essential part of fashion during the Victorian times. It was worn by one n all and was a signature of being women. Be it the rich bourgeois or the common proletariats, a corset enhanced their beauty, charm and youth. Apart from being used in medicine and they were also used as a fetish tool .

With the changing times and fashion, the form of corsets have been evolving, but the purpose remain the same, to reduce the waist and provide with a slim and a fashionable silhouette. In the late 1940’s there was a new revival in the field of corsets, they took a shape of a waist cincher and became an object of haute couture for the likes of Christian Dior.

Corsets have always been an insignia of class and regality in fashion and they will continue to be.
