THE SAVAGE BEAUTY OF ALEXANDER MCQUEEN : IN MEMORIUM

Calling Alexander McQueen just a fashion designer will be an understatement. He was in a true sense a genius, whose interest in Psychology, culture and history found an expression through his each and every creation. What fascinated him were the dark and the unexplored sides of beauty. He taught people not only to appreciate art but to appreciate unconventional forms of art, providing his fans with a visual treat.  McQueen was blessed with a visualistic sense of frame , he dared to travel to those uncharted corners of beauty which nobody knew.

Dark, devilish, gothic and dramatic were  his catchwords. One of the most memorable shows that he put up was ‘ Highland Rape’ for first time the British fashion was bombarded with something out of every fashion forecasters league. He cut opened the beautiful clothes to stimulate a feeling of actual violence and depicted a century long British Rape of the Scottish Highlands.

He was very well known to make his own mark but at the same time he was also known not to lose any opportunity where he could express what he felt inside.

A recent exhibition of his clothes was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, which was a smash hit right in it’s first week and was attended by 43000 fans. McQueen believed in women being no less than fighters , he disliked the naïve image which portrayed them to be week, he wanted women to be strong and to shape up things as per their own will and completely used his fantasy in doing so. There were around 100 dresses that were featured.
Overall a great memorabilia put up together by Anna Wintour for the fashion freaks. It’s not just a show but an experience to have.
