Seeking inspiration from the Bishnoi tribe of the Thar in Rajasthan, Anita Dongre’s latest couture collection narrates a tale of ethical living, coexistence and spiritual reverence.
The key motif of the collection is ‘khejri’ – a super species of trees that withstand the harshest climate conditions and flourishes to remain evergreen. It symbolizes the immortal ‘tree of life’ that gives back to the land where it stands.
The collection is replete with rich silks with tulle and organza as under layers, creating the most stunning couture for a modern-day bride. Sticking to her unconventional yet vibrant color palette you will see a blitzkrieg of maroon, ink blue and emerald green that are balanced out with flesh, champagne, and crème gold. Beautiful floor length jacquards, lehengas that can spell grandeur and flirty net dupattas sum her collection up.
She showcases her latest couture collection, ‘Tree of Love’ at India Couture Week on Saturday 29th July, 8 pm at Taj Palace, Delhi.
