Amazon Fashion Week A/W 17 saw some stunning pieces set the runway ablaze. Among those sequinned gowns, thigh-high slits, exaggerated shoulders there was one piece which stood strong, as always: the quintessential Indian sari. What’s unique about this 6 yards of ethnic wonder is its adaptability. Over the years we have seen the high browed hand loom advocates, Bollywood’s glamazons and fashion influencers giving sari their own interpretation. And why not?

Today sari has come to define the ‘sexy’ in Indian fashion. With designers such as Guarang, who has pinned his unadulterated commitment to the Indian hand looms via his khadi saris, Tarun Tahiliani, who has helped sari register it’s presence in every sophisticated bride’s fashion vocabulary to Shivan and Naresh who have made it possible for Indian women to flaunt their curves wearing their saris on beach, there is no way Sari is vanishing from the contemporary fashion scape.
